One day after being targeted by , the senator and president of , (PI), stated this Friday (8) that the attack was an attempt to tarnish his personal honor.
“Every political year is the same thing. They try to stop in every way those who are leading the voting intention polls”, wrote Ciro in a note published on his social networks.
Ciro also cited the decision of the Second Panel of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) presented by the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) against him for obstruction of justice.
“In the first attempt to stop me, due legal process determined the lessons and lies against me and my innocence was proven. But one question remains: who restores a person’s honor after an attack as evil and baseless as this?”, said the PP president.
This is the first time that Ciro Nogueira has spoken out about the PF operation. He was searched and seized on Thursday (7). According to the corporation, the senator had received amounts passed on by Felipe Vorcaro, cousin of , owner of Master.
Furthermore, according to the investigations, there would be payment for other personal expenses of the parliamentarian, such as jet travel.
In a statement, Ciro Nogueira’s lawyer, Antônio Carlos de Almeida Castro, known as Kakay, said that the defense “repudiates any conclusion of illegality about his conduct, especially in his parliamentary performance”.
He says that the senator is committed to contributing to Justice “in order to clarify that he had no participation in illicit activities and in the facts investigated, making himself available for clarifications.”
It also states that “serious and invasive investigative measures taken based on the mere exchange of messages, especially by third parties, may prove to be hasty and deserve due reflection and severe control of legality, an issue that will have to be technically addressed by the Superior Courts very soon, just as occurred with the indiscriminate use of plea bargains.”
