Much is written and said about seemingly fundamental differences between city and country dwellers. This also includes the desire to have children, which is actually not fundamentally different for people in big cities than for people who live in smaller towns. In both groups there are many people who would like to have an average of around two children. Both groups are influenced by social crises and uncertainties, which have contributed to the decline in the desire to have children in Austria in recent years.
