A senior Iranian military official has warned countries imposing sanctions on Iran that they will “face problems” when their ships pass through the Strait of Hormuz, state media reported on Sunday.
“From now on, countries that follow the United States in enforcing sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran will certainly face problems in passing,” said Brigadier General Amir Akraminia, an army spokesman.
The US has imposed a wide range of sanctions against Iran for decades, crippling its economy. Several other countries, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and Australia, have followed suit, expressing concern about , its human rights record and the funding of militant groups.
