Lightning of 265 kA, on a very “electric” Saturday morning. Throughout the day, almost 3,000 positive electrical discharges were recorded.

It was a busy Saturday thunderstorm, lots of lightning, especially in the early hours of the morning: over the course of 24 hours, lightning was recorded 2944 downloads positive electrical.

The most intense lightning was seen around 5am on Saturday, in the region of Greater Lisbon: amplitude of 265 quiloamperes (kA).

This indicates that local residents felt the house was tremble because of this stronger ray.

No Baixo Alentejo, about two hours earlier, the second strongest discharge was recorded, with lightning reaching 222.79 kA.

The other particularly intense discharge in Greater Lisbon occurred 20 minutes after the first: amplitude of 174 kA.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) had placed almost all districts (17) of mainland Portugal under yellow warning due to rain and strong wind, with the possibility of thunderstorms.

Four of these districts – Porto, Viana do Castelo, Braga and Aveiro – maintain the yellow warning this Sunday due to heavy rain, lasting until midnight on Monday.

For today, Sunday, it is expected rain for the entire territory of mainland Portugal. Maximum temperatures should not exceed 21 degrees.

Tomorrow, Monday, the scenario will be practically the same across the country.
