Nunes Marques takes office as president of the TSE in a ceremony with Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro

The minister takes command of the Court amid challenges in the conduct of the 2026 general elections

Nunes Marques is sworn in as president of the TSE

The minister Kassio Nunes Brands he was sworn in this Tuesday (12) as new President of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Under the magistrate’s command, the Court will conduct the 2026 general elections amidst challengeslike the tackling misinformationa preservation of public confidence in the electoral system e regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in campaigns.

In addition to Nunes Marques, the minister André Mendonça he was sworn in as vice-president of the TSE. They also integrate the new composition of the court: Dias Toffoli (STF vacancy); Antonio Carlos Ferreira (general inspector of Electoral Justice); Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva (STJ vacancy); Floriano de Azevedo Marques (jurist); and, Estrela Aranha (jurist).
