The city of Banská Bystrica and the State Nature Protection (ŠOP) of the Slovak Republic are warning visitors to exercise caution in the location of Urpín Hill in Banská Bystrica. Based on the monitoring of the Response Team of ŠOP Stred, there are currently there are at least six brown bears. The municipality informed about it on the social network on Wednesday.

“Since Urpín is a popular recreational and sports area, we encourage all visitors to be extremely careful when moving in the terrain. At the same time, we recommend avoiding movement in this location, especially between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., when animal activity is highest,” emphasized the town hall.

Together with the conservationists, he reminds again that when encountering a bear, you must remain calm, do not make sudden movements, slowly move away from the animal and do not turn your back on it. In case of danger, the emergency line 112 should be contacted.
