STF discusses limits for using Coaf reports

Supremo will analyze sharing of financial information used in money laundering investigations

The plenary session of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) will judge this Thursday (May 14, 2026) the limits for sharing Financial Intelligence Reports between Coaf (Financial Activities Control Council) and public authorities.

The documents bring together communications about movements considered atypical and are used to identify signs of money laundering and other financial crimes.

In 2019, the Court authorized the spontaneous submission of these reports without the need for judicial authorization. Now, ministers are analyzing in which situations information may be requested directly by authorities.
