Venezuela announces release of 300 prisoners, including police, elderly and sick

President of the Venezuelan National Assembly did not say whether these 300 prisoners are covered by the amnesty law approved in February

The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, announced this Tuesday that the country will release 300 prisoners this week, between Monday and Friday.

At issue is the release of prisoners with health problems and over 70 years of age. The group should also include three police officers who have been detained since 2003, .

Rodríguez, brother of interim president Delcy Rodríguez, did not say whether these 300 people are covered by the amnesty law approved in February.

According to the news agency, the Venezuelan government has always denied holding political prisoners and guarantees that those detained have committed crimes.
