“Due to a computer error in our main studio, the Death of a Monarch protocol was inadvertently activated on Tuesday afternoon (May 19), which all UK stations have in reserve and hope they won’t need it. By mistake it was announced that His Majesty the King had died,” station manager Peter Moore wrote on Facebook.
Caroline’s radio then went silent, just as protocol requires, which alerted staff, who resumed broadcasting and apologized on the air. “We apologize to His Majesty the King and our listeners for any upset caused,” Moore said.
