The group of caravans is easy to find in the beautiful landscape in Parndorf, Burgenland. Behind the outlet center and the brutalist-looking Pannonia Tower Hotel they stand directly under the high-voltage power line: ten white cars from high-quality brands and the SUVs needed to pull them. Most cars have French license plates, some German ones. The older man who comes towards us across the meadow also speaks French, like everyone else here.
