Last Saturday (23), American singer Chris Brown was officially awarded an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Visual and Performing Arts from Harvest Christian University.
The prestigious honor highlights the cultural impact and legacy built by the artist over almost two decades of his career.
Academic recognition
According to the official certificate issued by the university, the distinction was awarded in recognition of his contributions to the entertainment industry. Images shared on social media, including by himself, recorded the singer wearing ceremonial academic attire during the graduation ceremony.
Harvest Christian University specifically highlighted the versatility of the artist, whose work ranges far and wide.
In the field of visual arts, the institution highlighted its direct influence on art direction, the aesthetics of music videos and fashion design, while in the performing arts the focus was on its historical impact on the contemporary dance scene and large-scale live theatrical productions.
“The honor endorses Brown’s role as one of the most influential and successful of the 21st century, institutionally validating his artistic signature on the global stage”, says the text published by the institution.
