Leaders of the federation formed by União Brasil and PP consider formal support for (‘s) presidential candidacy unlikely, after the disclosure of details about his relationship with banker Daniel Vorcaro.
According to a chief, the tendency today is for the federation to remain neutral in the dispute, but the hammer will only be struck closer to the convention deadline, which begins on July 20th. Much will depend on the emergence of new facts that increase the senator’s weariness.
Lula’s strength in states in the North and Northeast also contributes to this, which would harm candidates from both parties in these regions in the event of a coalition.
Before the messages were leaked, União and PP were close to finalizing support for Flávio, including discussing names for vice president. Mentioned, for example, senator Tereza Cristina (PP-MS) and federal deputy Simone Marquetto (PP-SP).
Within the federation, there is a lot of discomfort with Flávio’s stance, who did not reveal the existence of conversations with the banker and even criticized those who had a relationship with him.
If União and PP give up on the alliance with Flávio, the tendency is for him to emerge as a candidate only with the support of PL, since Republicans and MDB should also remain neutral.
