Lula signs R$8.2 billion package for Amazonas

Resources announced this Wednesday (May 27) include works on BR-319, electrification of 86 cities and construction of a waterway terminal

The president’s government (PT) announced, this Wednesday (May 27, 2026), an investment package for the State of Amazonas that reaches R$8.2 billion.

The resources are intended for road works, rural electrification, energy modernization, the naval industry and sustainable development.

Here are the announced investments:

  • R$381.4 million for interventions on the highway BR-319 via New PAC (Growth Acceleration Program). Lot 4 of the Meio section will receive R$362 million in improvements. The replacement of wooden bridges with concrete structures in Igarapés Santo Antônio, Realidade and Fortaleza will receive R$ 19.4 million;
  • R$3.3 billion in the energy security package. The Luz Para Todos program will receive R$785.9 million in the 3rd and 11th tranches, bringing electricity to 75,000 people in 86 cities;
  • R$2.3 billion for the modernization of the state electricity network, with the construction of 10 substations from 2026 to 2028;
  • R$ 1.2 billion in a contract financed by the Merchant Marine Fund. The project aims to produce 128 barges and 3 pushers, creating 2,600 direct jobs in the region;
  • R$876 million of the New PAC for the Manaus Moderna Waterway Terminal project;
  • R$ 150 million from the Amazon Fund of BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) for the Amazon Challenges Program. The resource will finance technological innovations and research aimed at regional socio-productive chains of açaí, cocoa and fish.

Entourage with Lula in Amazonas

The presidential delegation includes the Minister of the Civil House, Miriam Belchior. Ministers George Santoro (Transport), Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy), Tomé Franca (Ports and Airports) and João Paulo Capobianco (Environment and Climate Change) also participate. Luciana Costa, director of Infrastructure, Energy Transition and Climate Change at BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), is part of the delegation.
