Ukraine carries out drone and missile attack on Russian-occupied Crimea

Air defense units in the port of Sevastopol, in Russian-occupied Crimea, shot down more than 20 Ukrainian drones in the early hours of Wednesday (27). Ukraine also used Storm Shadow missiles, the city’s governor reported via Telegram.

According to preliminary information, there were no injuries, Mikhail Razvozhayev said, adding that some buildings, including a central bank regional office and an eight-story residential building, were damaged in the attack.

The Storm Shadow missiles are manufactured by a Franco-British consortium. Russia, which annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, has already summoned the British and French ambassadors to protest Ukraine’s use of these weapons.

In another incident, two people were injured in the southern Russian port city of Taganrog, east of the border with Ukraine, after a fire in the early hours of Wednesday, Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova said via Telegram.

In total, overnight, the Interfax news agency reported, citing the Ministry of Defense. Russian attacks in the Ukrainian regions of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia left 21 people injured, local officials said on Telegram.

Also on Wednesday, drone debris caused a fire that was quickly extinguished in , in the Black Sea.

Authorities also reported that drone debris damaged windows in a high-rise apartment and five private houses in the Tuapse municipal district. They said no one was injured in the incidents.

On Tuesday (26), Russia stated that its forces had taken control of two more settlements in the Sumy region, while Ukraine said it had carried out attacks against Russian military personnel and equipment.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that within 24 hours, its forces attacked several Ukrainian areas, targeting sites of production, storage, launch and command of drones used by Ukrainian forces, as well as points of temporary deployment of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries.

On the same day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported attacks on Russian military concentration areas, drone control points and artillery systems.

Also on Tuesday, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry reported that residents of several regions, including Zaporizhzhia, had suffered power cuts due to the ongoing conflict and Russian shelling of Ukrainian energy facilities, adding that repair teams were working to restore power supplies.
