Mette-Marit, Crown Princess of Norway
The health condition of Mette-Marit, Crown Princess of Norway, has deteriorated significantly. The crown prince says he is increasingly concerned about the condition of his wife, who suffers from chronic pulmonary fibrosis.
Speaking to journalists in Oslo on Tuesday after presenting the Abel Prize, Haakon MagnoCrown Prince of Norway, revealed that the Crown Princess is “seriously ill” and that her health has deteriorated in recent months.

In December, the crown princess also revealed that she would need a lung transplant. Haakon stated that an eventual transplant would be a medical decision and would depend on doctors’ assessment of the appropriate time to perform the procedure.
According to the crown prince, the last six months have been “manageable”but the disease goes through different stages. “We simply have to try to resolve this as best we can,” he told reporters.
