As the portal informs, in popular resorts on the Istrian peninsula these days discovered the poisonous compass jellyfish. Experts warn that this sea creature can kill you make a nasty mess, even if you find it lifeless on the beach.
An unsuspecting tourist came across her in the sea during her vacation. The incident took place in the town of Vrsar, which is located just a short distance from the popular Poreč in Istria. Fortunately, the woman kept a cool head, and although she tried to keep a safe distance from the jellyfish, she managed to take a photo of the dangerous sea animal. You can find the photo!
The unique shot immediately flooded the Internet and sparked a heated debate among vacationers. Moreover, experts confirm that it is not a coincidence. This species has been appearing more and more frequently in the northern Adriatic in recent years and represents a hidden threat to uninformed tourists.
The tentacles are the most dangerous
Experts say that the compass jellyfish is characterized by specific dark bands in the shape of the letter Vwhich stretch on her tawny hat. They can resemble the aforementioned compass. The biggest risk, however, is its long and thin tentacles, in which it hides toxic stinging cells.
It is definitely recommended not to touch these animals in the sea or on the beach. Even dead jellyfish washed ashore can be poisonous. Their stinging cells remain active and can sting you unpleasantly. Fasting cells can on contact with human skin cause strong and sharp pain, intense burning, significant redness and unpleasant swelling.
If unwanted contact already occurs, first aid is crucial. The affected area on the skin rinse immediately with sea water. It is very important that you get a blow in no case do not rub, which will only push the poison deeper into the skin. If the pain is severe or other more serious health problems appear, do not wait for anything and seek medical help immediately.
