Colombia will hold a second presidential round with two candidates who represent two irreconcilable visions of the country. Abelardo de la Espriella, the ultra-conservative lawyer who presented himself as the outsider that would break with everything, has won the first round with 43.7% of the votes, with 99% of the tables counted. Iván Cepeda, candidate of the leftist heir to Gustavo Petro, obtained 40.9% of the votes. After the results were known and all the candidates, except Cepeda, had spoken, Petro sowed discord by rejecting the results of the provisional scrutiny. On June 21, Colombians will elect a president between two candidates who are opposed in substance and form in one of the most polarized elections in memory.
De la Espriella and Cepeda will compete for the presidency with a Colombia divided in two
