Iran accuses the US of violating the ceasefire after the airstrike on the port and warns of security measures. The Revolutionary Guards report a retaliatory strike.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday accused the United States of continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement. This was in response to an American airstrike on a port in the southern part of the country, reported the AFP agency, which is referred to by TASR.

  • Iran accused the United States of violating the ceasefire after the airstrike.
  • Tehran announced its readiness to take any steps to protect national security.
  • Iran’s Revolutionary Guards attacked a base linked to the US airstrike.
  • There are currently no negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear program.
  • Iran is making any deal with the United States conditional on a cease-fire in Lebanon.

According to the spokesman of Iranian diplomacy, Esmaíl Bakaji, the United States violated the ceasefire on Monday morning as well. At the same time, the representative of the department emphasized that Tehran is ready to take any steps it deems necessary to protect its national security.

Retaliatory strike

Meanwhile, the DPA agency reported that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards carried out a retaliatory attack on the base from which, according to Tehran, the US launched an airstrike on the southern province of Hormozgan.

The US military has its facilities located in several states of the Persian Gulf region, including Kuwait. The air defense there announced on Monday morning that it had intercepted and destroyed missiles fired at the country’s territory. It attributed responsibility for the attack to Iran.

Core program

At the same time, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that there are currently no negotiations between Tehran and Washington on the details of Iran’s nuclear program.

According to him, Iran has its own idea of when it is necessary to take steps in the nuclear field, but there have been no consultations with the US on the specific parameters of these issues. In the current period, he identified the end of the ongoing war as the main priority of Tehran.

Armistice condition

Bakají also emphasized that the basic condition of any agreement with the United States remains the ceasefire in Lebanon. Tehran insists that a halt to fighting in the country is a prerequisite for any deal aimed at ending the war, while Israel expands its military operation on Lebanese soil.

On Sunday, the Israeli armed forces announced the expansion of ground operations in Lebanon and the occupation of the strategically important Beaufort Castle in the south of the country. Following these steps, an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled for Monday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the capture of Beaufort Castle a major turning point in the ongoing operation against the Lebanese militant movement Hezbollah.
