Abelardo de la Espriella and Iván Cepeda, supported by Petro, were the most voted; election will be on June 21
The 2nd round of elections for president of Colombia, scheduled for June 21, 2026, will have a dispute between right and left. The 1st round was this Sunday (May 31, 2026). The counting has not yet been completed, but it is already possible to say that they will advance to the 2nd round: (Defensores de la Patria, right) and (Historic Pact, left).
Here is the one with 98.27% of the ballots counted:
- Abelardo de la Espriella – 43,74%;
- Ivan Cepeda – 40,90%;
- Paloma Valencia – 6,91%;
- Sergio Fajardo – 4,26%;
- Claudia Lopez – 0,94%;
- Raúl Santiago Botero Jaramillo – 0,87%;
- Oscar Mauricio Lizcano Arango – 0,22%;
- Miguel Uribe Londono – 0,12%;
- Sondra Macollins Garvin Pinto – 0,08%;
- Roy Leonardo Barreras Montealegre – 0,05%;
- Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia – 0,05%;
- Carlos Eduardo Caicedo Omar – 0,05%;
- Gustavo Matamoros Camacho – 0,02%.
Around 41 million voters were eligible to vote in the country.
Who are the candidates who advanced to the 2nd round:
- u – He is 47 years old, a lawyer. Without ever running for elected office before, he bases his speech on strong admiration for leaders such as (Republican Party), in the United States, Nayib Bukele, in El Salvador, and (La Libertad Avanza, right), in Argentina;
- Ivan Cepeda – is 63 years old, a philosopher and supported by President Gustavo Petro. AND senator and son of Manuel Cepeda Vargas, senator assassinated in 1994 “by state agents in complicity with paramilitaries“, according to the candidate’s biography. Cepeda lived in exile from 1998 to 2004 because of threats for his work as a human rights defender. He was a federal deputy for Bogotá, the capital, and senator 3 times, until 2026.
