The former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) did not receive medical authorization to start the active phase of physical therapy on the right shouldernearly four weeks after undergoing surgery in the region. Reports sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) last week indicate that it presents “important limitation of movement of the right shoulderjoint stiffness and mobility restrictions in the region of the surgical scar”.

Assessment signed by physiotherapist Kleber Antônio Caiado de Freitas and orthopedist Alexandre Firmino states that the 71-year-old former president was conscious, oriented and collaborative during the assessment and care. It is authorized to carry out just one weekly physiotherapy sessionfocusing on passive mobilizations in the region.

In a separate report, cardiologist Brasil Ramos Caiado informed the STF that Bolsonaro did not present relevant complaints of shoulder painbut “episodes of epigastric burning associated with gastroesophageal reflux”.

“Due to recurring hiccups, it was maintained with previously adjusted high doses of medications specific and strict low-acid diet”, said the doctor.

The document also informs that the former president started light, progressive aerobic exercisemaintains the blood pressure under control and continues to present chronic instability of body balancewhich led to the adoption of “preventive measures to reduce the risk of falls”.

Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced by the STF to 27 years and 3 months in prison for the crimes of armed criminal organization, coup d’état, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, deterioration of listed property and qualified damage to the Union’s property.

He is in humanitarian house arrest since the end of March, when he contracted a bacterial bronchopneumonia. Previously, he was detained in the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha.
