New hope in the fight against one of the deadliest types of cancer

Pancreatic cancer has been considered one of the most feared cancer diagnoses for decades. In Austria, 1,600 to 2,000 people are affected by the diagnosis every year. Also in fiction – in Robert Menasse’s novella The life decision – the dreaded illness recently made a dramatic appearance. Because early symptoms are usually absent or nonspecific, the diagnosis is often only made when the cancer has already spread or can no longer be operated on.
