The expectation is that the agreement could even guarantee a victory for the governor in the first round; allies view new conversations with optimism
Tarcísio de Freitas’ team (Republicans) entered the field again to try to convince Paulo Serra (PSDB), pre-candidate for Palácio dos Bandeirantes, to support the re-election of the current governor. The vice president, Felício Ramuth (MDB), the secretary of Institutional Relations, Roberto Carneiro (Republicans), and the former governor Rodrigo Garcia (MDB) are some of the main names who called the toucan to talk recently to seal the alliance.
According to interlocutors interviewed by the column, the agreement is close to being closed. The reading is that Paulo Serra does not aim to “live an adventure” but, rather, . He has scored between 2% and 5% in voting intention polls. As a result, people close to the governor already consider the outcome to be practically certain and are celebrating, as they see the possibility of a victory for Tarcísio in the first round.
The PSDB-Cidadania federation hopes to win at least two federal deputies in this year’s election. One of them would be Paulo Serra, if he gives up running for government, and the other, the current president of the union, also federal deputy Alex Manente. There are also expectations of other names as substitutes. Manente, in fact, is seen as one of the people working towards this scenario and open to conversations with the São Paulo Executive.
The possibility of Serra’s candidacy, however, pleases Fernando Haddad’s PT. The understanding is that one more name in the dispute would force a second round in the State, as it could split the votes. Behind the scenes, there is even talk that the party had already approached the PDSB to encourage the bet.
