Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi declared on Wednesday that any attack on Lebanon’s Beirut will lead to renewed war in the Middle East. TASR informs about it according to AFP reports.
“Any attack on Beirut will have serious consequences and lead to a resumption of full-scale war.” Arákči was quoted by the Iranian agency Tasním. “Our armed forces are ready to attack Israel if it attacks Beirut,” he continued. According to the Iranian minister, contacts between Iran and the United States have not been interrupted, but no significant progress has been made in the negotiations. According to him, both sides are studying the communication they exchanged.
The Tasnim Agency wrote on Monday that the Iranian negotiating team is suspending mediated communication with the United States as part of peace talks due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon. “The return to the negotiating table is conditional on securing the rights of the Iranian people, ending the war in Lebanon and stopping tensions in the region,” Arákčí added.
Israel continues its attacks, particularly in southern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire, saying it is responding to ceasefire violations by Hezbollah. Beirut is also a target of Israeli strikes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that he and US President Donald Trump share the goal of disarming the militant Hezbollah movement and demilitarizing Lebanon.
