Deputy called alignment with the US “disgusting” and defended the Brazilian system
The federal deputy and pre-candidate for the Senate (PT-PR) stated in a publication on X this Thursday (June 4, 2026) that it is “It’s disgusting to see Bolsonaros’ willingness to serve American interests.”. The statement was made after the former deputy (PL) suggested replacing Pix with Zelle, a payment system in the United States.
“They [o senador (PL-RJ) e Eduardo] they need to be contained and punished, for the good of Brazil and the Brazilian people”stated the former minister of the Civil House. Gleisi also said that the proposal aims to “reduce the American taxes they helped orchestrate”.
The congresswoman defended the maintenance of Pix, classified by her as “a Brazilian public infrastructure, created and regulated by the Central Bank of Brazil”in contrast to Zelle, “a private system, operated by American banks, that charges fees”.
The publication responds to Flávio, who appeared holding a sign with the phrase: Pix “is from Brazil and”. Gleisi declared that the system “It was never Bolsonaro’s — he didn’t even know what it was about when asked about it” and that “lies, lack of character and flattery are the methods of these treacherous and idiotic people”.
Payment systems
Eduardo Bolsonaro suggested that Brazil replace Pix with Zelle, a North American payment system, this Wednesday (June 3, 2026), in an interview with the portal TMC News. The proposal comes after the USTR (Office of the United States Trade Representative) released reports critical of the Brazilian system and announced new tariffs on the country’s products.
The report recommended the application of 25% tariffs on Brazilian products. According to the USTR, Brazil maintains electronic payment policies that “disadvantage American companies involved in digital commerce or electronic payment services”.
