In Trenčín, a small child unexpectedly found himself in a locked car, while the keys to the vehicle and the apartment were left inside. However, thanks to the presence of mind of the parents and the lightning reaction of the police, this stressful situation ended happily.
Patrols of the Trenčín Regional Police Department and the Emergency Motorized Unit (PMJ) were urgently dispatched to one of the streets in Trenčín. The reason was the unintentional locking of the vehicle, in which a minor child remained trapped. The situation was complicated by the fact that inside the car were not only the keys to the vehicle itself, but also to the apartment.
The parents showed great prudence at this difficult moment. Instead of panicking, they kept their cool and immediately contacted the police, which turned out to be a crucial decision. With the warm weather outside, the temperature inside a closed car in direct sunlight could quickly rise to dangerous levels. It was not possible to secure spare keys in a short time and it was not possible to get into the vehicle in any safe way. The police therefore had to act immediately.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, the car owner agreed to break the window. One of the officers used a telescopic baton and smashed the driver’s side front window. During the procedure, they proceeded in such a way as not to endanger the child or other persons present at the scene. The child was pulled out of the car within a few minutes. Fortunately, she was not injured.
