Trump says he will pressure Israel not to attack Iran after retaliation

Iranian offensive on Israel was the 1st since the ceasefire began in April; was a response to an attack suffered by Lebanon

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), stated this Sunday (June 7, 2026), in an interview with the website Axioswho will call the Prime Minister of Israel, (Likud, center-right), and pressure him not to retaliate for the missile attack carried out by Iran.

“I’m going to call Bibi [Benjamin Netanyahu] right now and tell him not to retaliate. Everyone had their turn. Israel had its attack and Iran had its. We don’t need another one”said Trump.

The regional conflict has been under a ceasefire since although the has been violated on some occasions. Last Saturday (June 6, 2026), Israel carried out attacks in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.

Trump seeks to prevent an escalation of the conflict from compromising a possible agreement between Washington and Tehran. Still according to the AxiosNetanyahu’s response will be seen as a test of the influence that the American president maintains over the Israeli government.

According to Trump, “Iranian attacks did not harm anyone […]. We are very close to a final agreement with Iran. It will be a good agreement. I don’t want him to fail because of what’s happening now.”.
