World Cup 2026: Morocco draws with Norway in a friendly – 06/07/2026 – Sport

Morocco, which will be Brazil’s opponent in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup, drew 1-1 with Norway this Sunday (7) in a friendly played at the Red Bull Arena, in Harrison, New Jersey.

Four days before the start of the tournament, the Moroccan team started better, with Brahim Díaz opening the scoring in the eighth minute after a pass from his strike partner Abde Ezzalzouli in a beautiful play from the left.

But Arsenal’s ever-present midfielder, Martin Odegaard, equalized by taking advantage of the passivity of the Moroccan defense in the second half.

Ezzalzouli and left-back Noussair Mazraoui were replaced due to injury in the first half and became a concern for Morocco a week before the game against Brazil, in Group C of the World Cup, which also includes Scotland and Haiti.

Norway were more dangerous from set pieces thanks to the presence of Erling Haaland and Alexander Sarloth in the area, but left something to be desired in defense.

The Norwegians, who have not participated in the World Cup since 1998, make their tournament debut on June 17 against Iraq, before facing Senegal and France in Group I.
