US bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain report Iranian attacks

The IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran) claimed to have launched retaliatory attacks against American military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan in the early hours of Thursday (11), after the United States announced attacks on multiple targets in Iran.

This is the second consecutive day that Iran has attacked American bases in the region in response to US attacks. US President Donald Trump said the first night of attacks was in retaliation for the downing of an army helicopter, but cited slow progress in war negotiations in announcing the second round of strikes.

He said Iran would “pay the price” for taking “too long to negotiate a deal” and that all Tehran needs to do is “.”

Trump warned that attacks could resume tomorrow if a deal is not reached. He said senior Iranian officials asked him to stop the latest attack, according to Fox News.

American bases under attack: In Jordan, Americans were warned to shelter in place. The IRGC claimed to have “destroyed facilities and a large number of combat aircraft” in , according to state media. Kuwait has closed its airspace and anti-aircraft defenses are engaged with “hostile objects”, state media reported, citing the country’s army. Sirens sounded in Bahrain, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.

Iran threatens: the oil trade chokepoint, which has been virtually closed since the start of the war, will be “closed to all vessels,” the IRGC said. The US Central Command disputed the Iranian claim, saying that commercial ships continue to transit the strait – which the IRGC denied. A senior Iranian military official, IRGC aerospace commander Seyed Majid Mousavi, warned that Iran could turn the Middle East “into hell” if the strait becomes unsafe.

US Targets: US Central Command said it had “launched attacks against Iran’s military surveillance capabilities, communications systems, and air defense installations across the country.”

Impact on Iran: Explosions were heard again across much of Iran following strikes launched by the US, Iranian state media reported. Explosions were heard in cities near the capital Tehran, including Abyek, Qarchak, Minab, Nazarabad and Karaj. Other locations were hit further south, near the Strait of Hormuz, including Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Kharg Island – a major oil hub in the Persian Gulf. Explosions were also heard in the city of Shiraz, Fars Province.
