The Urban Development Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved this Thursday (11) a bill by deputy Jilmar Tatto (PT-SP) that allocates a portion of oil royalties
Approval occurred unanimously, and the project now goes to the plenary. If approved, it will go to the Senate.
According to the project, the portion of royalties that exceeds 10% of the value of oil production will be used to finance the free pass. In the case of exploration under a production sharing regime, the value above 15% will serve this purpose.
“The allocation of part of the royalties from oil exploration to fund the zero tariff is a strategic measure, which ensures that the wealth generated by a finite resource is reverted into concrete social benefits accessible to the entire population”, says the deputy in the justification of the project.
