Haitian midfielder Leverton Pierre, from Portuguese club Vizela, is out of the World Cup due to an adductor muscle injury, the country’s football federation said on Thursday (11).
“Leverton Pierre will not be able to play in the World Cup after the medical team detected an injury to his right adductor muscle,” the Haitian Football Federation said in a statement.
Defender Garven Metusala, from the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, from the USL Championship, the second division in the USA, will replace Pierre.
Haiti faces Scotland on Saturday (13), at 10pm, in its first match in Group C. The Caribbean country is in its second World Cup, after participating in 1974.
The Haitian team will face Brazil next Friday (19), at 9:30 pm. The clash will be broadcast by Globo, SBT, SporTV, Globoplay, CazéTV, GE TV and NSports.
The team concludes its participation in the group stage against Morocco, the following Wednesday (24), at 7pm.
