The narrator mocked a video recorded by reporter Alana Ambrósio talking about coverage of the competition final
A Amazon Prime Video suspended for an indefinite period, this Friday (June 12, 2026), the narrator Rômulo Mendonça and the commentator Ricardo Bulgarelli from the platform’s broadcasts.
The decision was made because of comments made by journalists on the podcast Jararacaswhere they mocked reporter Alana Ambrósio, a broadcast colleague of the 2.
Rômulo Mendonça started recording the podcast on June 9th satirizing a video recorded by Alana Ambrósio in which the reporter reflects on her journey to cover the NBA final, the North American basketball league.
The narrator ended the comment by criticizing what he called “hotel journalism”. He also commented in an ironic tone that Alana Ambrósio’s speech was a “honest vent, not going over anyone’s head”.
In a statement, Amazon stated that it is aware of the “inappropriate comments” directed to a member of the broadcast team. He declared that “does not tolerate this type of behavior” and that Mendonça and Bulgarelli are suspended until the end of an internal investigation into the case.
With the suspension, Rômulo Mendonça is unlikely to narrate the NBA final again. Game 5 of the decision between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, which could be the last, will be held on Saturday (June 13), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Frost Bank Center gym, in San Antonio (USA).
