The representatives of the general prosecutor’s offices of the V4 countries signed the Declaration on the Protection of Children’s Rights by Prosecutor’s Offices during a joint meeting (June 10-12) in Tatranská Lomnica. Her the goal is to strengthen an effective platform for modern prosecutorial activity and to bring concrete impulses and solutionswhich will help especially the little ones who cannot defend themselves. TASR was informed about this by Zuzana Drobová, spokeswoman of the General Prosecutor’s Office (GP) of the Slovak Republic.
“The important points of the declaration are, among other things, the strengthening of the legal protection of children, the prevention of secondary victimization, the realization of their safety in the digital space, as well as the specialized training of prosecutors in this area,” zoomed in on the content of the document. In order to prevent sexual abuse of children in the online environment, human trafficking and other cyber threats, the representatives of the prosecutor’s offices of the V4 countries also supported the recommendation of the European Parliament regarding the restriction of children’s access to social networks without the consent of their legal representatives.
“The declaration provides for preventive mechanisms and records, the aim of which is to eliminate the access of risk persons to work with children,” added Drobová. According to her, the agreement emphasizes the continuous deepening of the exchange of experience within the prosecutor’s offices of the Vyšehrad Group and other member states of the European Union with the aim of maximizing the effectiveness of the criminal protection of children.
The highest representatives of the general prosecutor’s offices met in Tatranská Lomnica from June 10 to 12 at the 13th joint meeting. Prosecutor General of the Slovak Republic Maroš Žilinka welcomed to the meeting the highest state representative of the Czech Republic, Lenka Bradáčová, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Poland Jacek Bilewicz a Deputy Prosecutor General of Hungary Barna Miskolczi with delegations.
At the meeting, the representatives of the prosecutor’s offices of the V4 countries also signed a commitment to analytical and data cooperation, academic and judicial cooperation and again declared their readiness continue close multilateral cooperation while deepening direct institutional partnerships at the bilateral level.
