Vinícius Júnior lamented Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco this Saturday (13), in the two teams’ debut at the 2026 World Cup, and stated that the Seleção needs “to work” to continue in the tournament.
“The debut is always difficult, but we have to improve and keep evolving because it’s the World Cup and there won’t be an easy game”, said Vini, who scored the Brazilian goal at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, on the outskirts of New York.
He also said that it is necessary to “hold the ball more, move from one side to the other, because often the opponent will come to defend and counterattack. We conceded a goal in a counterattack”, he lamented.
“There’s not much to say, just work because the next game is already very close”, continued the Real Madrid player, remembering that next Friday the Seleção will play against Haiti in the second round of Group C.
In turn, the steering wheel Bruno Guimarães stated that the first half was difficult to Brazil.
“I think our first half didn’t go the way we wanted. We had a lot of transitions that ended up complicating our game. Then, we managed to score. We were even better than them in the second half, but the draw remained”, analyzed the Newcastle midfielder.
“The debut is always a little complicated, players are more nervous than normal. But anyway, the weight of the debut is over, now it’s time to recover, focus on the next game”, added Bruno.
Experienced full-back Danilo considered that the draw was “fair”, because in the second half Brazil managed to trap the Moroccans, but recognized that the Seleção should have been more effective.
The Flamengo player considered that it would be “superb” to talk about a rout in the next game against Haiti.
“We have to enter to win the game, regardless of how it happens. And to win the game it is necessary to have a sense of responsibility and a spirit of sacrifice”, he declared.
Finally, coach Carlo Ancelotti stated that “it was a difficult, competitive, hard-fought game against a good team”.
“In the first half, we didn’t play a good game, but we were better in the second,” analyzed Ancelotti.
“We have to improve”, concluded the Italian.
