Twelve people died this Sunday following the crash of a plane in the US state of Missouriaccording to authorities. The accident occurred in Butlernear Butler Memorial Airport, approximately 105 kilometers south of Kansas City.

The plane, identified as a single-engine turboprop“had just taken off and made a left turn” before the crash, said acting airport manager and director of the Bates County Emergency Management Agency, Dennis Jacobs: “In my opinion, I think it was losing power, and it was trying to get to the highway and land, when it lost control, nosedived and caught fire.”
Sergeant Justin Ewing of the Missouri Highway Patrol said the plane was carrying people for a parachute jump.
Emergency teams received a call that a plane had crashed and was on fire at around 11:30 am this Sunday (5:30 pm in Lisbon), he said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a statement that officers were on scene, assisting the Butler Police Department and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Justin Ewing, the accident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
