TSE: Kassio reviews Moraes’ refusal to speak to lawyers – 06/17/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The minister reviewed a decision by the Superior Electoral Court and authorized lawyers to speak in analyzes of individual decisions in the court. The possibility had been revoked in 2022.

The court stopped accepting this participation in August 2022. At the time, the court understood that there was no regulatory provision for lawyers to act in these cases. The restriction was defined during the trial of one of the decisions within the scope of the actions that made Jair Bolsonaro (PL) ineligible.

Successor to the presidency of the TSE, Kassio will command the court in the 2026 elections, which has Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), son of the former president of the Republic, as a pre-candidate for the Planalto.

In charge of the electoral court in 2022, Moraes was the target of complaints from the Bolsonaro clan due to the removal of content considered false and had to deal with attacks on the electoral system.

Nunes Marques has stated internally that he wants his presidency to involve political disputes and that his administration will act to de-escalate political tension in the country, even though he claims to want the TSE to monitor possible excesses.
