Iran has confirmed that the postponed negotiations with the US will take place in the next few days in Switzerland. The meeting is to advance the newly signed memorandum.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that a meeting with US officials, originally scheduled for Friday in Switzerland, would take place in the coming days. During the day, American Vice President JD Vance and Swiss diplomacy also announced the postponement of Friday’s meeting. TASR informs about it according to the AFP agency and Sky News television.

“Given that the text of the memorandum of understanding was signed digitally on June 18, it is not urgent to hold the aforementioned meeting in Switzerland, but we are planning a meeting in the coming days,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmáil Bakaji.
Terms of the memorandum
The department added that negotiations with the US on a final agreement depend on the commencement and continued fulfillment of specific conditions set out in the memorandum.
According to Sky News, this is an allusion to the latest fighting in Lebanon. As part of the aforementioned memorandum, the fighting on all fronts, including this country, was to be ended. However, overnight, Israel again launched attacks on southern Lebanon, which claimed at least 47 victims, according to the local Ministry of Health. Reuters reported that both sides concluded a ceasefire on Friday, which began at 4:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. CET).
Signing of the peace agreement
A memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran was signed by Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkiyan and his American counterpart Donald Trump on Wednesday. This 14-point document paves the way for negotiations on a final peace agreement between the countries that would officially end the war in the Middle East. On Thursday, the sixty-day period for negotiations between the two countries on the final peace agreement began.
