One of the biggest fears ahead of this Sunday’s presidential elections in Colombia came true. The outgoing president Gustavo Petro, political driving force behind the candidacy of left-wing senator Iván Cepeda, said that he does not recognize the results of the day, or at least not those of the pre-count, the quick count carried out by the National Registry of Civil Status on what happened at the polls. “No one can be proclaimed president. Tranquility among the citizens,” said the president as the afternoon fell.
