The US military destroyed another ship suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean. Two men died, six survivors were stranded at sea without immediate help.
The United States military announced on Sunday that it had attacked another ship suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean. Two men were killed in the incident and six others were stranded at sea. TASR writes about it with reference to the AFP agency.
“On June 21, Operation Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike against a vessel operated by designated terrorist organizations. Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was navigating known drug-smuggling routes in the Caribbean and engaged in drug-smuggling-related operations,” US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced on the X Network.
American troops without losses
“During this action, two narco-terrorists were killed and six men survived,” the command added. In the post, it confirmed that it had notified the US Coast Guard of the survivors. US troops reportedly suffered no injuries during this operation.
The black-and-white images attached to the post show a ship that was destroyed by a large explosion after being hit.
Interventions without evidence
Since last September, the administration of US President Donald Trump has focused on destroying vessels allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean. So far, however, she has not supported her claims about drug smuggling by these ships with any evidence.
According to AFP statistics, the latest attack brought the total number of victims of US strikes since September to at least 206.
International law experts and human rights organizations say the attacks are likely extrajudicial killings, as they apparently target civilians who do not pose an immediate threat to the United States.
