A 96-year-old woman was the victim of a robbery inside her own home, in Matosinhos, last Friday night, in an episode that is being investigated by the PSP.
The elderly woman, who is bedridden and lives alone, was surprised by an intruder who spent more than five minutes in her room rummaging through personal belongings. The robbery took place on Rua Guilherme Felgueiras, in the Cruz de Pau neighborhood, and was recorded by a monitoring camera installed by the family.
According to the images, the woman wakes up with the suspect inside the room, asking who is there. The man initially responds “it’s me”, in an attempt to deceive, before approaching the bed.
Realizing the situation, the victim begins to scream and ask for help. The robber, described as wearing a red cap and gloves, rips a gold chain from her neck and demands money and other jewelry. The elderly woman replies that she has nothing of value.
Over the course of several minutes, the man ransacks the room, opening drawers and moving furniture, while the victim remains in shock, crying and asking him to leave. In the end, the robber leaves the place with the gold thread and other objects, leaving the woman in a state of great distress.
Authorities continue the investigation to try to identify and locate the thief.
