At the Nová Štrkáreň gravel pit near the village of Komjatice, in the district of Nové Zámky, a man disappeared under the surface on Wednesday afternoon. The spokeswoman for the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Service in Nitra, Michaela Gundová, told TASR that rescuers were called to rescue a drowning person. The rescue operation continues.
„Firefighters from Šurian, the police and the emergency medical service intervene on the scene. There are boats on the water and the water surface is being searched,” said Gundová, adding that a diving team from Bratislava is also on site.
