On Friday, June 26, Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) will broadcast a live broadcast of the Slovak Woman of the Year 2026 gala, a survey that highlights women who participate in the growth and good name of Slovakia. In its 18th year, the project will honor recognized experts in the fields of art, healthcare, science, sports, education, as well as women who have devoted their energy to charity and helping others, in nine categories. PR manager Juliána Nemčíková informed TASR about it.
The gala evening, starting at 8:30 p.m., will be broadcast by STVR on television screens from the premises of the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava’s Reduta, where awards will be presented to nine ladies for their contribution to the development of Slovakia. “The Slovak Woman of the Year poll enters its 18th year with the nobility of tradition and the energy of today. Every year, it brings stories of Slovenian women who have transformed talent, work and courage into concrete values and are moving their environment forward,” says the public broadcaster about the project built on the connection of the public and professional selection.
Suggestions come from readers – the names of smart women from their surroundings are suggested by people who know their work, results and attitudes. Subsequently, they are assessed by an expert committee, which selects the nominations for the final lineup.
“I have my fingers crossed for all the nominated ladies. When a woman, in addition to her family responsibilities, manages her work to the full and achieves success in it, it is something special. I am looking forward to Friday evening, when the audience will be able to get to know personalities who are not so well known to the wider public, but who have done a lot for Slovakia,” said STVR CEO Martina Flašíková, who is a member of the nomination committee of the Slovak Woman of the Year poll.
As the public broadcaster further announces, viewers can look forward to a rich cultural program full of interesting performances. The evening will be accompanied by the presenter couple Kristína Kucianová and Ľubomír Bajaník. Kucianová became the new face of STVR only in September.
The gala evening will be enriched with performances Janoska Bros, opera singer Terézia Kružliaková, a musician Ondřej Gregor Brzobohatýyoung talent Lima Pragerová, musical actor Lukáš Pišta, Riverpark Dance School and Podpoľanec Folklore Ensemble.
Exceptional Slovak women are nominated in the following categories: Business and management, Sport, Media and communication, Science and research, Education, Support of young talents, Art and culture, Healthcare, Charity, Special award for lifelong contribution to Slovakia and Absolute Slovak.
