Intermarché reinforced its presence in the Algarve with the opening of a new store in Algoz, municipality of Silves, the result of an investment of 4 million euros that allowed the creation of 45 jobs. The new unit aims to reinforce the supply of local commerce and contribute to the economic development of the region.
With a commercial area of 1,100 square meters, the space offers a diverse range of food and non-food products, complemented by services such as Take-Away, Ready-to-Eat, Bakery and Pastry, Gas Station and ATM, seeking to meet the needs of the local population and visitors.
New unit bets on proximity and the local economy
According to Grupo Mosqueteiros, the opening of the new store represents a commitment to creating jobs, boosting the local economy and being closer to communities. The brand highlights that the new space was designed to provide a more complete and convenient shopping experience.

Quoted in a statement, Raúl Matos, responsible for Intermarché de Algoz, states that “The opening of this store represents the completion of a very important project for us and the local community.”
The executive adds that “we want to be a proximity reference, offering our customers a complete shopping experience, based on product quality, price competitiveness and close, personalized service.” He also highlights that “It is also a source of great satisfaction to contribute to the creation of jobs and the economic development of the region.”

The new store is part of the Intermarché national network, which currently has 269 points of sale in Portugal. In 2026, Grupo Mosqueteiros celebrates 35 years of activity in the country, maintaining its commitment to a proximity commerce model based on the entrepreneurship of its independent members and support for local economies.

According to the company, the opening of the Algoz unit reinforces the group’s mission to provide an accessible, quality offer close to the population, contributing to improving the quality of life in the communities where it is present.
