Economist and university professor André Portela will assume the presidency of the Academic Council of
Portela succeeds Fernando Schüler, political scientist and professor at Insper.
The Council brings together experts in areas such as economics, education, public management, law, health, among others, responsible for transforming diagnoses about the country’s problems into studies, notes, publications and institutional positions.
“I undertake this mission with great honor and a sense of responsibility. The idea is to continue supporting the dissemination of Public Policy Notebooks and preparing new work for the next electoral cycle, always focusing on building liberal solutions for the country”, says Portela, who also coordinates the Center for Applied Microeconomics at FGV EESP.

The idea, according to the movement, is not to paralyze essential services, but to prevent the Executive and Legislative branches from circumventing fiscal rules, making exceptions in the public budget.
