The government Tarcísio de Freitas already consider the scenario that not all Line 6-Orange be ready by 2027. The contract with the concessionaire Action establishes that the company has until October of next year to complete the work.
This Thursday (25) the CEO of Artesp (Transport Regulatory Agency of the State of São Paulo), André Isper, admitted to the Estadão that to Station 14 Bis-Saracuraalready Bela Vistathe center of the capital, can be left for later. Work on this stop was interrupted in 2022 after the discovery of an archaeological site there.
“This particular station may not open until 2027. I can’t tell you a deadline,” said Isper. When contacted, the company has not yet responded.
In an interview with Estadão in February this year, the CEO of Acciona in Brazil, André De Angelo, had already recognized the difficulty. “It will be a very big challenge to put it into operation in 2027 along with the other stations.”
. For now, only the João Paulo I and Freguesia do Ó units, in the north zone, and Santa Marina, Água Branca, Sesc-Pompeia and Perdizes, in the west zone, will operate. In October this year, the transport gains two more stops: Brasilândia and Itaberaba-Hospital Vila Penteado, in the north zone.
The contract foresees the opening of the complete route, which includes 15 stations, by October 2027. The president of Artesp highlights that, although 14 Bis may not be delivered, the rest of the line is on schedule. “Next year, it will operate from Brasilândia to São Joaquim, which is the most important.”
Today, only 15% of the work on 14 Bis is complete. “It was delayed a lot due to historical-cultural licensing issues. It was a very private issue. But what matters is that now the work is moving forward, the construction company is making a big effort to get back on schedule.”
In 2022, an archaeological site of Quilombo Saracura was discovered at the site during excavations. The unit is next to Praça 14-Bis. The find led to the station being renamed 14 Bis-Saracura. More than 100,000 artifacts linked to the quilombo were found at the site.
“The pace of excavation is lower than expected, because we are following all the guidelines given by Iphan (Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage)”, said the CEO of Acciona in February.
In March, the company authorized the resumption of works after carrying out a technical analysis at . “Evidence points to the existence of the structure of a possible terreiro and other objects linked to Afro-Brazilian religiosity”, declared the organization about the space. Drainage structures from the Saracura stream were also found. The institute proposed that the concessionaire display some of the objects found inside the station itself, so that they are accessible to the community.
