US and Iran reach agreement to stop attacks

The United States and Iran have agreed to stop mutual attacks and plan to meet on Tuesday (30.Jun.2026) in Doha (Qatar) to resolve the dispute over , a US official said on Sunday (28.Jun) to the digital newspaper.

After the memorandum of understanding, on June 17, the 2 countries and accused of violating the ceasefire. The President of the United States, (Republican Party), on Saturday (June 27) resumed the war and “finish the job”.

Another US official told the Axios that “ships can sail freely”while conversations continue.

The negotiations on Tuesday (June 30) were originally scheduled to take place in Switzerland to deal with the Iranian nuclear program, according to the digital newspaper. The increase in tension caused them to be transferred to another location and focus on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.

So far, the White House has not commented on the matter.

According to the memorandum of understanding, Iran committed to allowing the safe passage of commercial ships through the strait. In return, the US lifted the blockade of Iranian ports.

During the meetings held on June 21, the US delegation – headed by the vice president (Republican Party) – agreed with Iran to establish a “hotline” between the US military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s military command, to coordinate traffic through the strait. However, this measure has not yet been applied.
