The pre-candidate for the Presidency, Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), announced, this Wednesday (1st), Gilberto Kassab, president of the party, as vice-president on the presidential ticket. The information had already been provided by Young Panindicating that the former mayor of São Paulo has gained strength in recent weeks.
On May 29, Jovem Pan commentator Dora Kramer had anticipated that Kassab would be chosen for the post. At the time, former government secretary Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) denied the information and the announcement was postponed. This time, however, allies claim that Kassab made himself available to become vice-president, even though he told some interlocutors that he had no electoral intentions this year.
The name of the former mayor of São Paulo had already been circulated since May, when Kassab said he was “available”, if that were Caiado’s choice. On Monday (29), Caiado had informed that he would announce the vice president this Wednesday at 11 am at a press conference in Brasília, saying, he did not give any clue as to who the name could be.
