The former president (PL) and the governor of Paraná, (), will be together this Friday (4) for the first time after the municipal election and the same week when the second gives its pre-campaign start by a place to the Presidency of the Republic in 2026.
The interest of Ratinho Junior in the Planalto was already treated behind the scenes since 2023, when he began his second term at the Iguaçu Palace. But by the end of last year, it was up to local allies to make it publicly resign it.
He himself remained discreet and waiting for some national PSD signaling about his claims. So far, the president of the subtitle, has stated more than once that if the party ops for its own candidacy, Ratinho Junior would be the name to be taken to the ballot box.
The PSD, however, maintains the slope of alliances in which it does not figure with a head of the plate and today has representatives in both the Lula government and in the São Paulo government of (Republicans), also quoted for the race to the presidency.
At the end of last year, in front of, Ratinho Junior began to admit interest in the national dispute. On Tuesday (1st), gathered state deputies, dealt with amendments and spoke about the plans for 2026.
“For the first time, he spoke openly, without a secret to anyone, who is really willing to build a presidential project,” said state deputy Ney Leprevost (União Brasil), one of the enthusiasts of the idea.
Within the Legislative Assembly, Ratinho has a large support base and goes to the final part of his mandate without difficulty approving projects.
In Bolsonaro’s passage through Paraná this Friday, plans for 2026 will also be on the agenda of the meeting, but the priority should be the local sewing. The former president should arrive in the city around 10:30 am, heading for a lunch at the Iguaçu Palace, headquarters of the Paraná government.
The idea is to sacrament the local alliance between the groups of Bolsonaro and Ratinho Junior to 2026. According to federal deputy Filipe Barros (PL), one of the articulators of the meeting, the PL is willing to support the name preferred by Ratinho Junior for the dispute to the government of Paraná.
The list of possible PSD names is large and includes former mayor of Curitiba Rafael Greca and state deputy Alexandre Curi, president of the Assembly.
“Of course we will be within the governor’s project [na eleição ao governo do Paraná em 2026]. Bolsonaro has an excellent relationship with the [apresentador de televisão] Mouse father and the governor rat, “Barros told the Sheet.
In negotiations, Barros should have one of the places of the Senate race. The other will probably have a Junior Ratinho ally or with his own, if he cannot take his candidacy to the Plateau.
Regarding the Planalto, the PL has insisted on Bolsonaro’s name for next year, although the former Mandanker is ineligible until 2030 due to conviction in the Electoral Justice. Barros states that Ratinho Junior’s pre-candidacy is “natural and part of politics,” but within the PL, “our candidate is called Jair Bolsonaro.”
“It is our focus. We work with the concrete possibility of reversing ineligibility to dispute the election,” said Barros, who in the House presides over the Foreign Relations and National Defense Commission.
During Bolsonaro’s mandate in the government, Ratinho Junior remained a faithful ally, but did not embrace the former president’s more radical speech, such as the rejection of the Covid vaccine, and diverted controversies, such as the impeachment of STF ministers. It also often repeats that “ideological fights” do not lead anywhere and that “the investor needs an environment of harmony.”
During last year’s election campaign, the relationship seemed to be shudden. Although the PL and PSD closed an alliance for the City Hall of Curitiba, Bolsonaro signaled informal support to Cristina Graeml (then at PMB, today at Somos).
She went to the second round of the dispute, won at the end by Eduardo Pimentel (PSD) and Paulo Martins (PL), elected mayor and deputy mayor, respectively.
According to Filipe Barros, the issue of the Curitibana election “is overcome”. Paulo Martins said to Sheet On Wednesday (2) that will be at lunch at the palace. This is the first meeting after last year’s election campaign.
Another agenda of this Friday’s meeting is the amnesty project to those reported in the scope of scammers of January 8, 2023. Main PL agenda today in the National Congress, the amnesty has now been defended by Ratinho Junior.
After lunch at Iguaçu Palace, Bolsonaro and the governor continue to open the traditional Expolondrina, a fair linked to agribusiness. Second largest city in Paraná, Londrina is Barros’s main electoral base.
