Australian pension funds face cyber attacks in which hackers stolen the savings of members worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Several large Australian pension funds have been the target of cyber attacks in recent days. Hackers managed to pull out savings from members’ accounts, the government and the trade association announced on Friday. TASR writes about this based on the DPA report.
Australiansuper, the largest fund in a country with approximately 3.5 million members, confirmed that up to 600 passwords have been stolen to access accounts. According to an anonymous source, they stole four members of this fund a total of $ 500,000 (287,000 euros).
Increased hacker attacks
“Although most of the attempts were reflected, unfortunately, several members were affected,” said the Association of Superanation Funds of Australia (ASFA).
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese admitted the attack. “We will respond in time. We are considering what happened, but keep in mind that … in Australia there is a cyber attack approximately every six minutes,” he said, adding that the funds to combat computer crime were increased.
