Prince William brings earthshot award to Brazil

British prince William announced on Friday (local time), alongside celebrities and football stars, which will bring this year to Earthshot’s annual awards ceremony, its multimillionaire environmental award.

The heir to the British throne launched the Earthshot Award in 2020, aiming to boost significant advances in solving environmental problems in a decade.

Inspired by the “Moonshot” project of former US President John F. Kennedy, who led to the arrival of man to the moon in 1969, the award seeks to find innovations to combat climate change and other environmental issues, rewarding five 1 million ($ 1.3 million) 1 million winners to develop their projects.

This year’s ceremony will be held shortly before the UN climate summit, COP30, which takes place in Brazil in November.

“I am pleased to announce that we will be in Brazil in 2025,” said William in a video released to the ad.

“We need urgent optimism now more than ever, and I think Brazil personifies this. I can barely believe that we are already halfway through the age of 10.”

“I am very, very excited… (Brazil) – where nature and culture go hand in hand,” said Beckham.
