Siberia ferry paralyzed activity for 20 minutes on Tuesday for maintenance, says Deracre

The Department of Roads, Waterway Infrastructure and Acre Airport (Deracre) reported that the ferry crossing in the Siberia region of Xapuri was not interrupted on Tuesday (24), despite problems with the boats. According to the agency, the main ferry had the operation suspended for 20 minutes to perform cleaning, while the assisting vessel partially sank due to the sudden elevation of the Acre River level. There was no damage to users, according to the note.

The crossing is the main means of transport between the Urban Center of Xapuri and the Siberia community, where hundreds of families live. Residents and drivers reported queuing and difficulty training in the early hours of the morning.

Siberia Bridge delivered in September

As part of the actions of Operation Summer 2025, the government of Acre advances in the construction of the new Siberia Bridge in Xapuri. The work, which has already reached 85% execution, is in the superstructure phase, with concreting of the flags of the slabs. About 70 workers work on site.

The bridge will be 363 meters long and has an investment of over R $ 40 million, being R $ 15 million from the state government and R $ 25 million parliamentary amendment from Senator Márcio Bittar. The delivery forecast is for the month of September.

According to Deracre’s president, Sula Ximenes, the work meets a determination by Governor Gladson Cameli and seeks to ensure more security and accessibility between Xapuri and the community of Siberia.
